The upcoming games between Kunlun Red Star and Lokomotiv Yaroslav (scheduled for Sep. 21) and Dinamo Riga and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod (Sep. 22) have both been postponed.
In the first instance, several players and staff at Lokomotiv reported symptoms of SARS. To ensure the safety of all teams in the championship, the team returned to Yaroslavl for more detailed tests. At present, there are three confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the team and several other players and staff are isolating with ARVI-like symptoms but no positive COVID test.
As a result, Monday’s game at Kunlun Red Star is postponed and Lokomotiv is undergoing additional medical checks, including tests for the presence of immunoglobulins. It is hoped that the game can go ahead on Sep. 22, one day later than planned, pending the outcome of those tests.
The game between Dinamo and Torpedo is also postponed. As in the previous case, Torpedo found several players and staff members reporting ARVI-like symptoms. Preliminary testing found four people infected with COVID-19. All players and staff with symptoms who are currently testing negative for COVID have been placed in isolation. Further testing, including tests for the presence of immunoglobulins, is on-going. In addition, five representatives of Dinamo Riga also tested positive for coronavirus.
Since the problem has affected much of the Torpedo roster, and due to the lack of time to prepare the necessary paperwork for members of the junior and reserve teams to cross the border into Latvia, the game in Riga on Sep. 22 has to be postponed. A date for the rearranged game will be announced in due course.
