On Friday, the 7th of September, at a meeting of the KHL Board of Directors in Moscow, approval was given to the distribution among member clubs of profits earned from the sale of TV rights to matches in the Championship. The total sum shared out between the League’s teams amounted to more than 400m rubles, almost $6m, subject to Russian Sales Tax. 

The amount in US Dollars may differ from the one indicated in the article, in connection with the changes in the ruble/dollar rate. The amounts are translated in US Dollars according to the 07.09.2018 exchange rate.

The KHL began the distribution scheme in the 2014-15 season, deciding that the proceeds obtained from the sale of television rights should be shared among the member clubs. At the end of the 2017-18 season, the clubs participating in the KHL Championship will receive approximately 400,4m rubles (around $5.8m, and subject to Russian Sales Tax).

For the 2014/2015 season, the windfall for the clubs totaled 114m rubles ($1.6m), rising to 243m rubles ($3.5m) for the 2015/2016 season and to 350m rubles ($5.0m) for the 2016/2017 season (252m rubles including Russian Sales Tax from the sale of TV rights and further 100m rubles incl. Sales Tax from the League’s economic activities). The distribution scheme shows an increase for the third consecutive season.

The KHL Board of Directors given approval to the distribution among member clubs of 349.5m rubles (incl. Sales Tax) earned from the sale of TV rights.

According to the financial results from the League’s economic activities for the 2017/2018 season, a sum of 51.0m rubles (incl. Sales Tax) was allocated to the member clubs. The amount received by each club was calculated according to attendances at its home games last season.

Although now VHL clubs, Lada Togliatti and Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk, as participant clubs in the 2017/2018 KHL regular season, receive a share of the funds yielded from TV rights and other sources of income.
