Following an announcement by Ak Bars Kazan that, owing to health reasons, the club's head coach, Zinetula Bilyaletdinov, will be unable to lead the Kharlamov Division team in the 2018 Al-Star Game, the League has named Neftekhimik head coach Andrei Nazarov as his replacement.

The revised line-up of head coaches for the event, a mini-tournament between the League's four Divisions, is as follows:

Bobrov Division - Oleg Znarok (SKA)
Tarasov Division - Igor Nikitin (CSKA)
Kharlamov Division - Andrei Nazarov (Neftekhimik)
Chernyshev Division - Andrei Skabelka (Avangard)

The full playing rosters for the All-Star Game were completed on the 8th of December, the referees for the big event will be Sergei Kulakov and Sergei Gusev, and the chosen linesmen are Ivan Sazonov and Alexander Sadovnikov.

The Week of Hockey Stars,runs from the 10th to the 14th of January in the Kazakhstan capital, Astana, and features matches involving the finest players from three leagues: on the 10th, the festivities get underway with the Women's Hockey League (WHL) All-Star Game, and on the 11th fans can see the Youth Hockey League (YHL) Challenge Cup. The Week of Hockey Stars reaches a crescendo on the 13th and 14th, with the Master Show and the KHL All-Star Game – the mini-tournament contested by teams representing the League's four Divisions.

Tickets for all the events which make up the 2018 Week of Hockey Stars, including the KHL All-Star Game, the YHL Challenge Cup, and the WHL All-Star Game, may be purchased via the event's official website and at the Barys Arena box office.
