To mark the end of the fourteenth week’s play of the tenth season of the Championship, the Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.
– Best goaltender was Ben Scrivens (Salavat Yulaev), who helped the Ufa Men win two of his three games, and kept the opposition off the scoreboard in both victories. The 31-year-old Canadian recorded a save percentage of 96.59, a goals against average of 1.01, and his shutout series currently stands at 125 minutes and 27 seconds;
– Best defenseman was Oleg Piganovich (Neftekhimik), who celebrated two wins from two outings, one of which was on the road. The 32-year-old Russian D-man scored 3 (1+2) points, including the game-winner in both games and a double against Salavat Yulaev, and he received no negative ratings on his way to earning a +3 for the week;
– Best forward was Daniil Apalkov (Lokomotiv), whose haul of 5 (3+2) points helped the Railwaymen win three out of three matches. The 25-year-old Russian scored a double against Barys and finished all three games with a positive rating, meriting a +5 for the week;
– Best rookie was 19-year-old Spartak forward Ilya Tataluyev, who made three appearances, averaging 5 minutes 54 seconds on the ice, and ended the week with two goals. The teenager received no negative ratings, earning a +2 for the week, and the goal he scored on the road against Metallurg Magnitogorsk was the first of his KHL career.
