In response to a request from the Refereeing Department, the KHL Disciplinary Committee has reviewed incidents from two of Monday's matches in the Championship, and two players have received short bans as a result.
In the 45th minute of the match in Kazan between Ak Bars and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, visiting forward Gennady Stolyarov picked up a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for slashing. After studying all the evidence, the Committee upheld the referee's decision and ruled that Stolyarov must pay a fine and serve a one-game suspension.
In the 37th minute of the match in Moscow between Dynamo and Severstal Cherepovets, the referee handed out a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for boarding to Dynamo forward Dmitry Markovin. Once again, after investigating the episode the Committee supported the decision. Consequently, Markovin has been fined and disqualified for two games.
