Following a request from the Refereeing Department, The KHL Disciplinary Committee investigated a number of incidents from Wednesday's games in the Championship, and two players have been suspended as a result.
In the 55th minute of the match in Novosibirsk between Sibir and Vityaz Moscow Region, home team forward Stepan Sannikov collided with the referee. After studying the evidence, the Committee judged Sannikov guilty of unsporting behavior toward a match official, for which the player receives a game misconduct penalty (20 minutes), a fine, and a two-game suspension.
In the 50th minute of the match in Yaroslavl between Lokomotiv and Metallurg Magnitogorsk, home team forward Vladislav Kartayev was given a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for causing injury by checking to the head and neck area. Having examined the episode, the Committee upheld the referee's decision, and consequently, Kartayev must pay a fine and serve a one-game suspension.
