To mark the end of the twenty-second week’s play of the ninth season of the Championship, the Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.
– Best goaltender was Tomi Karhunen (Kunlun Red Star), who played in two matches and kept the opposition off the scoreboard in both. Tomi was the only goalie in the League to remain unbeaten over the last seven days;
– Best defenseman was Juuso Hietanen (Dynamo Moscow), whose account for the week showed three appearances, 4 points (2+2, including a double against Traktor), 10 shots at goal and 8 hits. Juuso did not receive a single negative efficiency rating in any game and earned a +5 for the week;
– Best forward was Sergei Mozyakin (Metallurg Magnitogorsk), whose haul of 6 points (5+1) from four road games was the highest of any player in the League. The Magnitka captain fired 18 shots at goal, scored in three outings and took points from all four. His two goals against Dynamo Moscow included the game-winner and he also struck a double against CSKA;
– Best rookie was 19-year-old Torpedo forward Kirill Urakov, who was given three outings with an average ice time of 9 minutes 58 seconds. Kirill took part in the combination which created the game-winning goal against SKA and he finished the week with 2 points (0+2), 6 hits, no negative ratings and a +3.
