At the request of the Refereeing Department, the KHL Disciplinary Committee has scrutinized four incidents from Thursday’s games in the Championship.
A mere 53 seconds into the match in Moscow between Dynamo and Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg, a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) was awarded against visiting defenseman Dmitry Megalinsky for illegal use of the knee with intent to injure an opponent.
The KHL Disciplinary Committee studied the incident and supported the referee’s decision. As a result, Megalinsky receives a fine and a one-game suspension.
In the 15th minute of the same game, home forward Yegor Dugin also incurred a major plus game misconduct penalty for kneeing. The Committee imposed a fine on Dugin but he escaped further disciplinary measures.
There were also fines for SKA Saint Petersburg forward Evgeny Dadonov and Ugra forward Konstantin Mayorov, after each player had earned a major plus game misconduct penalty for boarding.
