In the 18th minute of Sunday’s game between Admiral and Sibir, a brawl erupted between Vladivostok defenseman Samvel Mnatsyan and Novosibirsk forward Alexei Kopeikin, for which both protagonists received a major penalty. For Samvel Mnatsyan, it was his second 5-minute penalty for fisticuffs in successive games (following his fight with Andrej Meszaros on Friday) and as a result, he must serve a mandatory one-game suspension.
In the 43rd minute of the same game, Admiral forward Mamin Maxim was handed a major plus game misconduct penalty for checking to the head and neck area. This was the player’s second 20-minute penalty of the season, to add to his dismissal for kneeing against Slovan back in August, and therefore he, too, is automatically disqualified for one game.
Also on Sunday, Salavat Yulaev defenseman Maxim Goncharov picked up a minor plus major plus misconduct penalty (2+5+10 minutes) for brawling with Ak Bars defenseman Ryan Wilson in the 49th minute of the game in Kazan. As this was the Ufa man’s third 10-minute penalty in three successive outings, he also receives an automatic one-game ban.
