To mark the end of the nineteenth week’s play of the eighth season of the Championship, the Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.
– Best goaltender was Viktor Fasth (CSKA), with two shutouts in two games on the road;
– Best defenseman, for the second time this season, was Michal Kempny (Avangard), with 3 points (1+2) from three victorious outings. Kempny also contributed 7 blocks, 4 hits, and did not receive a single minus on his way to earning a +4 for the week;
– Best forward, also for the second time of the campaign, was Nigel Dawes (Barys), who after three appearances ended the week with two wins, 5 points (3+2) and a +5. Dawes’s three goals came in the form of a hat-trick at Lada, which included the game-winner;
– Best rookie was 21-year-old Avtomobilist goalie Igor Ustinsky, whose account for the week stands at two victories from two games on the road, including one shutout. Ustinsky recorded a save percentage of 97.62 and a goals against average of 0.50.
