Bans for Bryukvin, Kostromitin
The KHL Disciplinary Committee has reviewed a number of episodes from Saturday’s games in the Championship, and two players have been suspended as a result.
In the 55th minute of the game in Zagreb between Medvescak and Dynamo Moscow, visiting forward Vladimir Bryukvin earned a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for high-sticking home forward Andreas Jamtin.
The Committee upheld the referee’s decision, and as this was the Bryukvin’s second 20-minute penalty of the current season, he incurs an automatic one-game ban for repeat offending.
The Committee also studied the mass brawl that erupted in the 52nd minute of Slovan Bratislava’s home game against Vityaz, and supported the referee’s decision to punish Moscow Region defenseman Dmitry Kostromitin with a double minor plus game misconduct penalty (2+2+20 minutes) for leaving the players’ bench to join the fighting.
Offenses of this nature are taken very seriously by the Disciplinary Committee, and for this violation, Kostromitin is banned for three games.
