Players of the Week 18: Proskuryakov, Blum, Prokhorkin and Sizov
To mark the end of the eighteenth week’s play of the eighth season of the Championship, the Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.
– Best goaltender
was Ilya Proskuryakov
(Torpedo), who helped his team claim three victories in three games, ending the week with one shutout, a save percentage of 96.00 and a goals against average of 0.98;
– Best defenseman
was Jonathon Blum
(Admiral), with 4 points (1+3) and three wins from four outings. Blum blocked 7 shots, did not receive a single minus on his way to earning a +3 for the week, and he also scored the game-winner against Traktor;
– Best forward
was Nikolai Prokhorkin
(Salavat Yulaev), who in four appearances on the road recorded 7 points (4+3) and merited a +2 for the week. Prokhorkin’s haul included three points in powerplay and a hat-trick against Amur;
– Best rookie
was 20-year-old Severstal defenseman Anton Sizov
, whose account for the week stands at three games, two victories, a +2, an average ice time of 18 minutes 30 seconds and the game-winning goal against Avtomobilist.
