To mark the end of the eleventh week’s play of the eighth season of the Championship, the Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.
– Best goaltender was Georgy Gelashvili (Ugra), who helped his team to victory in all three games. No opponent managed more than a single goal against Gelashvili in any game, and he finished the week with a save percentage of 96.55;
– Best defenseman was Roman Savchenko (Barys), who also recorded three wins in three appearances, contributing 3 points (2+1) and 8 hits. Savchenko did not receive a single minus rating in any game and earned a +4 for the week;
– Best forward was Kaspars Daugavins (Torpedo), with 6 points (3+3) from three victorious outings and a +3 for the week. Daugavins’s haul included one game-winner and he hit a double against Slovan;
– Best rookie was 20-year-old Ugra forward Pavel Varfolomeyev, who featured in all three of the Khanty-Mansiysk men’s successful outings and averaged 15:00 of ice time. Varfolomeyev ended the week with 2 points (2+0), including the game-winning goal against Neftekhimik.
