Kazionov, Koksharov banned for 1 game
Two incidents from Thursday’s games in the Championship have attracted the attention of the KHL Disciplinary Committee.
In the 14th minute of HC Sochi’s home game against Severstal, Sochi forward Denis Kazionov struck Cherepovets goaltender Sergei Magarilov in the face with the blade of his stick, and as a result was sent off for the remainder of the game. The Committee supported the referee’s decision to punish the foul with a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for slashing. As this is Kazionov’s third 20-minute penalty of the current season, he incurs an automatic one-game suspension for repeat offending.
The Committee also upheld the major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) given to Vityaz forward Yury Koksharov for kneeing and injuring SKA forward Anton Burdasov in the 41st minute of the game in Saint Petersburg. The Committee deemed the foul serious enough to warrant additional disciplinary measures, and has therefore suspended Yury Koksharov for one game.
