September’s finest: Murygin, Robinson, Mozyakin and Manukhov
To mark the end of the first full month’s play of the eighth season of the Championship, The Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the month in four categories:

Best goaltender was
Alexei Murygin (Lokomotiv), who in five games recorded four shutouts, a goals against average of 0.40 and a save percentage of 98.04. Murygin has not allowed a goal for 266 minutes 10 seconds, setting a new League record for the longest shutout series;

Best defenseman was
Mat Robinson (Dynamo Moscow), with a haul of 11 points (6+5) from 11 outings and a +6. Robinson averaged 23 minutes 38 seconds of ice time, and his points total included a game-winning goal and a double;

Best forward was
Sergei Mozyakin (Metallurg Magnitogorsk), who made 11 appearances and recorded 16 points (9+7), including one hat-trick, one double and two game-winners. Mozyakin is currently the League’s top scorer;

Best rookie was 21-year-old Metallurg Novokuznetsk defenseman
Roman Manukhov, who played in 13 games and ended the month with 5 points (0+5), a +4 and an average ice time of 18 minutes 33 seconds.
