Players of the Week 4: Murygin, Gilroy, Azevedo and Mikheyev
To mark the end of the fourth week’s play of the eighth season of the Championship, the Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.
– Best goaltender
of the week was Alexei Murygin
(Lokomotiv), with two shutout wins in two games;
– Best defenseman
was Matthew Gilroy
(Spartak), who finished the week with a +5 and 4 points (3+1) from three outings, two of which were on the road. Half of Matthew’s points haul came thanks to a double against Medvescak;
– Best forward
was Justin Azevedo
(Ak Bars), with 7 points (3+4) from three appearances and a +5 for the week. Justin found the back of the opposition net in all three games;
– Best rookie
was 20-year-old Avangard forward Ilya Mikheyev
, who played in three games, ending the week with a goal, an assist and an average ice time of 10 minutes 8 seconds. Ilya earned a positive or neutral plus/minus in all three outings.
