To mark the end of the second week’s play of the eighth season of the Championship, The Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.
– Best defenseman
was Alexei Vasilevsky
(Avtomobilist), who scored at least one point and achieved a positive plus/minus in all three outings, ending the week with 5 points (2+3) and a +5;
– Best forward
was Maxim Kazakov
(Metallurg Novokuznetsk), who matched Vasilevsky’s haul of 5 points (3+2) from three appearances and earned a +3 for the week. Maxim took points from every game and scored twice against Medvescak;
– Best rookie
was 20-year-old Metallurg Novokuznetsk goalie Andrei Kareyev
, who helped his team to victory in two out of three games and recorded a save percentage of .9369. Kareyev can even claim a de facto unbeaten week, as he was replaced by Filip Novotny for the shootout in the 4-3 loss to Medvescak.
