To mark the end of the first week’s play of the eighth season of the Championship, The Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.

Best goaltender of the week was
Vitaly Kolesnik (Lokomotiv), who played in three games and recorded two shutouts, a goals against average of 0.97 and a save percentage of 95.89. Vitaly has now kept his goal intact for 107 minutes 7 seconds – currently the longest shutout streak in the League;

Best defenseman was
Mat Robinson (Dynamo Moscow), with 4 points (2+2) in three outings and an efficiency rating for the week of +8;

Best forward was
David Ullstrom (Sibir), who scored a goal in each of his three games, finishing the week with 5 points (3+2) and a rating of +3;

Best rookie was Torpedo’s 20-year-old forward,
Daniil Ilyin, whose account after two appearances shows 1 point (1+0), a rating of +1 and an average ice time of 6 minutes 48 seconds. Daniil’s goal against SKA on the 29th was his first in the KHL.
