The Kontinental Hockey League has announced the rosters for the traditional Legends Game, one of the many events which form part of the All-Star Game festivities in Sochi, and two very famous names have been chosen to lead the teams out onto the ice: Olympic champion, Stanley Cup winner and three-time World champion Valery Kamensky, currently KHL Vice-President, and his fellow Olympic Gold medalist Andrei Kovalenko, who is now chairman of the KHL players’ union.
The roster for the Legends Game in Sochi is as follows: goalies - Vladimir Myshkin, Ildar Mukhometov and Andrei Malkov; defensemen - Alexei Kasatonov, Alexei Gusarov, Irek Gimaev, Sergei Babinov, Ilya Byakin, Vladimir Tyurikov, Boris Mironov and Sergei Gimaev; forwards - Alexander Yakushev, Sergei Fedorov, Alexei Zhamnov, Alexei Yashin, Pavel Bure, Vyacheslav Anisin, Yury Lebedev, Viktor Shalimov, Igor Boldin, Igor Varitsky, Alexander and Vladimir Golikov, Vyacheslav Butsaev, Evgeny Davydov, Roman Ilyin, Igor Boriskov and Alexander Volchkov.
The veterans will be under the guidance of three renowned coaches: Sergei Makarov, Yury Lyapkin and Sergei Mylnikov.
The Legends Game takes place at the Bolshoy Ice Dome, Sochi, at 17:45 on Sunday, the 25th of January. It will be preceded by the popular Master Show Skills Competition – a series of contests designed to test the individual skill, speed and strength of the All-Star Game players, while the main event – the 2015 Kontinental Hockey League All-Star Game - gets underway at 19:00.
