SKA overpowered Amur by a 7-1 margin to cut the gap on KHL leader CSKA to a single point.

The scoring started early: SKA went ahead after just 31 seconds thanks to Jimmie Ericsson, and it wasn’t long before Amur found itself defending a five-on-three penalty. That didn’t go so well for the visitor and Roman Cervenka made it 2-0 in the fourth minute.

The rest of the first period was scoreless but SKA heated it up in the second. Ilya Kovalchuk scored on the power play after Evgeny Dadonov’s shot was too hot for Sergei Borisov to handle and Anton Burdasov scored on the wraparound to make it 4-0 just before halfway.

Michel Miklik got one back for Amur but the game’s pattern wasn’t about to change. In the third period Ericsson got his second of the night on the rebound as Cervenka contributed his third point, then Vadim Shipachyov and Patrick Thoresen completed the rout.
