Watch all the games on your phone
For the first time ever, hockey fans can watch every game in the KHL on their cell phones or tablets. The new SMOTRI+ application, from the telecoms giant, MegaFon - a General Partner of the League, is available for download from the App Store and Google Play.
Hockey is one of the most popular sports in Russia, and the new KHL Championship will be contested by no fewer than 28 teams from 7 participating nations, playing more than 900 games in total. With the SMOTRI+ application, you can watch these battles on ice between the finest hockey teams in all Eurasia.
SMOTRI+ has already earned a great deal of respect among sports fans, more than a million of whom have used the app to follow the Olympic Games, World Hockey Championship and the soccer World Cup, and now it allows users to watch all the action in the VII season of the KHL.
“With the SMOTRI+ application, you can also receive exclusive news, access to the video archive, and much more,” said Mikhail Dubin, MegaFon’s Executive Director of Consumer Business.
“The Kontinental Hockey League has had MegaFon as a Partner since the tournament’s inception,” added Ilya Kochevrin, KHL Commerce and Communications Vice-President. “We welcome this new phase in our relationship, as it enables joint implementation of many promising new projects which I’m sure will please the fans.”
The VII KHL Championship gets underway today, the 3rd of September, with the Opening Cup game between last season’s Gagarin Cup holder, Metallurg Magnitogorsk, and regular championship winner, Dynamo Moscow, and you can watch this game on SMOTRI+. In addition to superb picture quality, the app gives hockey fans a number of extra features: you can pause the action and rewind to any point in the game, and there is interactive communication with other users, so you can discuss the match in real time, share your views on social networks, send links to the most exciting plays, and use mobile chat. You can also view the season schedule and results or set a reminder to make sure you won’t miss any broadcast.
