Two incidents from Friday’s games attracted the scrutiny of the KHL Disciplinary Committee. In the first period of SKA’s home game against Barys, visiting defenseman Maxim Semyonov was adjudged guilty of illegal use of the knee in challenge on Petersburg forward Ilya Kablukov, for which the Astana man was sent to the locker room for the remainder of the match. The Committee upholds the referee’s decision to punish the foul with a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for inuring an opponent by kneeing, and has suspended Semyonov for one game.
In the 40th minute of the game in Cherepovets between Severstal and Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg, home forward Evgeny Mons earned a game misconduct penalty (20 minutes) for unsporting conduct and abusing the officials. This decision also received the support of the Disciplinary Committee, and Mons has been banned for two games.
