All-star Game 2nd lines and goalies chosen
At midday today, Moscow Time, the final votes were cast in the accredited journalists’ ballot to select the second lines and goaltenders for teams East and West in the 2014 Kontinental Hockey League All-Star Game.
The voting for Team West’s offense produced three clear winners: CSKA Moscow’s Nikolai Prokhorkin, SKA Saint Petersburg’s Viktor Tikhonov and Dynamo Moscow’s Leo Komarov. It was a much tighter race for a place in the defensive pair, with Medvescak’s Canadian Kurtis Foster and SKA’s Maxim Chudinov emerging victorious. The media’s choice for second goalie was Ivan Lisutin of Vityaz.
Ak Bars goaltender Konstantin Barulin was selected for Team East, and in front of him will be a defensive duo of Metallurg Magnitogorsk’s Canadian, Chris Lee, and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod’s Finnish D-man, Juuso Hietanen. Finally, the journalists chose an offensive troika for Team East comprising Fyodor Malykhin of Avtomobilist, Enver Lisin of Admiral and another famous Finn, Sibir’s Jori Lehtera.
