Two incidents from Sunday’s games have attracted the scrutiny of the KHL Disciplinary Committee.
The first concerned Admiral’s visit to Saint Petersburg and the major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) handed to SKA defenseman Evgeny Ryasensky for checking to the head and neck area, following his 57th-minute challenge on Vladivostok forward Konstantin Sokolov. The Committee upheld the referee’s decision and has suspended Ryasensky for one game.
In the 53rd minute of the game in Bratislava between Slovan and Traktor, Chelyabinsk defenseman Evgeny Katichev received a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for roughing after an illegal hit on home forward Tomas Netik by the boards. As with Ryasensky, the Committee decided to uphold the referee’s decision and Katichev also receives an additional one-game ban.
Both players are therefore disqualified from playing in tomorrow night’s encounter between Traktor and SKA in Chelyabinsk.
