In the 59th minute of Friday’s Game 2 of the CSKA vs. Dynamo series, visitors’ defenseman Filip Novak used his stick to strike home forward Sergei Shirokov in the groin. After reviewing the incident, the KHL Disciplinary Committee has punished Novak with a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for slashing.

The Disciplinary Regulations on repeat offending state that a player is to be banned for one game if he incurs a second game misconduct or match penalty during the season. As Novak was handed a match penalty on the 30th of January, he is now disqualified from playing for Dynamo in Game 3 against the Army Men on Monday.
