Ilya Kovalchuk led the way as SKA St. Petersburg climbed to the top of the KHL table with a 2-0 home win over Sibir. Kovi’s sixth of the season opened the scoring as SKA made it six wins out of six to leapfrog Dynamo Moscow at the summit. Alexander Kucheryavenko got the second goal, while Ilya Ezhov had 25 saves for the shut-out.
SKA now leads the way with 37 points from 15 games; Dynamo has 36 from 16. In the Eastern Conference, Sibir remains on 31 points, three behind leader Traktor having played two games more.
