To mark the end of the first month’s play in the KHL Championship 2012-13 season, the KHL has named the best players of September in four categories:
– The best goaltender was Konstantin Barulin (Ak Bars). He played in 8 games, winning 6 of them (one by a shut-out), allowing an average of 1.46 goals per game and saving 95 percent of the shots he faced (both figures are the best in the League).
– The best defenseman was named as Evgeny Medvedev (Ak Bars). In September he took part in 10 games, scored three goals, made five assists and earned the best in the League efficiency rating of +12.
– The best attacker was Jori Lehtera (Sibir, pictured), who in 11 games scored 5 goals and assisted on 11 more, earning him a rating of +8.
– The award for September’s best rookie went to Lokomotiv forward Daniil Apalkov, who appeared in 10 games, merited a rating of +3 and scored 3+1=4 points.
