Metallurg Magnitogorsk’s official website of has unveiled the club’s new coaching staff. Taking the reins as head coach is Canadian specialist and former Carolina and Toronto boss Paul Maurice, and joining him as assistant will be Tom Barrasso, who will combine the role with that of goaltending coach. Maurice will also be assisted by Ilya Vorobyov and Sergei Gomolyako, and the latter will be in charge of team selection.
It is the third recent change of coaching personnel in the Eastern Conference. A day earlier, Barys announced the appointment of Vladimir Krikunov as head coach and last month Valery Belov signed a two-year deal to take the helm at Ak Bars, where he will be assisted by Alexander Barkov, Andrei Sokolov, Mikhail Sarmatin and Sergei Abramov.
