To mark the end of the twenty-first week’s play, the final playing week of the regular season, the Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.
– Best goaltender of the week was Alexander Yeryomenko (Dynamo Moscow). He played in two games, saving 93.9% of shots, achieving one shutout and allowing an average of 1.44 goals.
– Best defenseman was Tomas Starosta (Yugra). He took part in three games, provided the pass for one goal and merited a rating for the week of +5;
– Best attacker was Maxim Pestushko (Neftekhimik), In his three games the Nizhnekamsk forward scored three goals and added two assists, earning a rating of +5;
– Best rookie of the week was Vityaz defenseman Roman Tatalin, who played in four games, scored one goal, and assisted on one more.
The players of the week awards are based on statistics supplied by the statistics and analysis department of the KHL’s information bureau. The best rookie award is open to those players, goaltender or skater, born in 1989 or later, who have played no more than 20 games in previous Russian championships. The player must also have appeared in no fewer than half of his team’s games during the relevant playing week.
