Mikhail Biryukov pulled off 41 saves in the game - and two more in a shoot-out - to hand Yugra victory at Avangard after a 2-2 tie. The Omsk side laid siege to Biryukov’s goal, firing off 43 shots to 22, but were forced to come from behind twice to force the extras. Alexander Popov and Sergei Kalinin got the home goals, but it was Yugra’s Ivan Khlyntsev who took the scoring plaudits. He opened the scoring on 1:03, helped a lot by Omsk goalie Karri Ramo’s blunder, and then got the winner in the shoot-out.
