Dinamo Minsk won the clash of the Tarasov Division leaders to return to second place in Western Conference after edging out Atlant in a 4-2 verdict. The bulk of the scoring came in the first half of the game, with Teemu Laine and Geoff Platt putting Dinamo 2-0 up before Nikolai Zherdev pulled on back on 8:53. After that breathless opening things eased up a little: Jaroslav Obsut restored a two-goal cushion before the interval, then Zherdev got his second on 27:11. Both sides had chances before Dmitry Meleshko got the nod from the video officials for his clincher on 58:15.
CSKA mauled in the Lions’ den
Lev Poprad won 3-1 to pile up the misery for struggling CSKA. The Slovak side ended its own three-game losing streak and left the Moscow team facing eight straight losses - and just three points from its last 11 games. Two goals from Vaclav Nedorost in the third period put the game beyond CSKA’s reach after Rastislav Spirko had opened the scoring on 28:18. Niklas Persson’s late goal was not enough to spark a CSKA recovery.
