Salavat Yulaev Ufa suffered a fifth defeat in six games, losing 5-3 at home to Dinamo Minsk. The defending champion, which had produced a stirring fightback win over Lev Poprad last time out, looked to be lining up a second recovery triumph after clawing back a 0-3 deficit. But two goals in the last minute gave the Belarusians the points. First Alexander Kulakov made it 4-3 on 59:07, then as a shell-shocked Salavat withdrew goaltender Vitaly Kolesnik, Teemu Laine made it 5-3 on 59:41.
Earlier Laine had picked up assists on Dinamo's opening two goals, scored by Vladimir Denisov in the 11th minute and Teemu Laine on 20:48. Charles Linglet got Dinamo's third on 22:02, prompting a change in goalies for the hosts. But even though Oleg Saprykin, Viktor Kozlov and Alexander Radulov tied the game at 3-3 before the second interval, Minsk would not be denied.
