During the shootout series to decide the winner of the October 18th game between Ak Bars and CSKA, one particular episode has since aroused a great deal of discussion and controversy. The incident resulted in no goal being awarded.
Clarification from Refereeing Department:
The reason the shootout goal was disallowed is that CSKA forward Alexei Yashin, while dribbling out wide on his approach to the net, allowed the puck to cross the goal line before he shot at goal. According to rule 509 in the KHL Laws of the Game, 2011-2012, as soon as the puck crosses the goal line (including those parts outside the goal), the attempt is deemed to have been completed.
