Last Saturday Patinoire des Vernets - ice hockey arena in Geneva witnessed a charity hockey gala-game between World Stars and Russian Stars teams.
This game became a remarkable event in sports life of Russia and Switzerland. There were outstanding veterans of the Soviet and Russian hockey on ice: Olympic champions Vyacheslav Fetisov, Alexey Kasatonov, Vladimir Krutov, Sergey Makarov, Vladimir Lutchenko, Vladimir Myshkin, Alexander Mogilny and other famous sportsmen, and also such world stars of sports, as Formula 1 world champion Kimi Raikkonen, Olympic tennis champion Marc Rosset and winner of two Grand Slam titles and Davis Cup Marat Safin.
The KHL President Alexander Medvedev has shown his hockey skills as well.
On the ice there were also representatives of Gazprombank, the event's sponsor. A charitable fund Neva Foundation, companies Aquanika and VITAWIN Nutrition also sponsored this game. Aquanika is a business partner of the VITAWIN Nutrition, and produces specialized power drinks and mineral water.
The stadium has been full with spectators. Game passed risky, with variable success. The full time has ended with a 14-14 draw. Russians finally ended up as winners via shootout.
"This charitable gala-game is an important result of joint Russian-Swiss efforts within the popularization of international hockey. The obtained means will be directed to the development of the youth hockey in Russia and Switzerland," said one of the organizers of this hockey duel in Geneva Roman Rotenberg, the adviser to the Chairman of the board of the JSC Gazprombank, Deputy Director of KHL-Marketing Llc. "We are actively developing cooperation with Switzerland and other hockey countries in reagrds of the international hockey. Our main target is to bring our contribution to hold the ХХП Winter Olympic Games in 2014 in Sochi at the highest professional level and according to the best world standards."
