The final playing week of the regular season has come to an end, and the KHL has named the players who were the best of the week in four categories.
— The title of best goaltender is awarded to Ivan Kasutin (Neftekhimik). He took part in two victorious matches, including a clean sheet on one of his outings, saved 96.8% of shots and averaged 1.00 goals conceded
— The title of best defenseman is awarded to Andrei Kolesnikov (Vityaz, pictured). In three matches he scored two goals, provided the assists for two more, and merited an efficiency rating of +3. The previous week Guskov scored his 100th career goal in national championships.
— The title of best attacker is awarded to Patrick Thoresen (Salavat Yulaev). In three matches, he added to his account three goals, all three of them game-winners, plus three assists, and earned a rating of +6.
— The title of best rookie is awarded to Ivan Lisutin (Avtomobilist). He played in three matches and brought his team victory in two of them, saving 93.5% of shots and conceding an average of only 1.62 goals per game.
Attention, hockey fans! For the second stage of the KHL Championship (the play-offs matches) there will be a different system for defining the best players. The League will give awards to the best goaltender, defender, attacker and rookie for their performances in each round of the play-offs, instead of on a weekly basis.
