With the end of week 14 of the championship the KHL has named the players who were the best of the week in four categories.
— The title of best goaltender is awarded to Michael Garnett (HC MVD). Michael featured in three games, all victories, keeping two clean sheets, conceding an average of just 0.67 goals per game and saving 97.1% of the shots he faced. His unbeaten spell in goal has now reached 166 minutes 55 seconds.
— The title of best defenseman is awarded to Alexander Guskov (Lokomotiv). During the week Alexander played three games, scored one goal and achieved an efficiency rating of +3.
— The title of best attacker is awarded to Niko Kapanen (Ak Bars, pictured), who in three games collected 5 points (4 goals, 1 assist), and merited an efficiency rating of +3.
— The title of best rookie is awarded to Leonid Komarov* (Dynamo Moscow), who earned three points (2 goals, 1 assist) in the three games he played. Komarov’s efficiency rating from the week’s games was +1.
*The best rookie award is eligible to players born in 1987 or later, who have played no more than 20 top level matches in previous seasons in Russian hockey. The award is open to goaltenders, defensemen and attackers. Candidates for the nominations must have played for no less than half of their team’s matches during the given week.
