KHL President Alexander Medvedev held a meeting with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and his deputy Bill Daly before Wednesday’s clash between Washington Capitals and New York Islanders.
They exchanged views on current issues affecting relations between the two leagues, especially player transfers, international competition at the Olympics and World Championships and the future of inter-club tournaments and the European Champions League.
Both sides agree that there is a need to renew and improve their working relationship, and authorized representatives of the KHL and NHL will work together to analyze all aspects of their current relationship and find mutually beneficial solutions.
The results of those discussion will be reviewed by the leagues’ leaders at their next meeting during next February’s winter Olympics in Vancouver.
