The KHL Disciplinary Committee has investigated the incident which led to Barys forward Damir Ryspayev’s major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for being the aggressor in a brawl during Thursday’s game against Avangard in Astana.
After studying the evidence, the Committee upheld the referee’s decision and has expressed extreme concern over this incident.
Ryspayev is clearly seen to aim punches at Michal Kempny while the Avangard defenseman lays helpless on the ice. This is not merely a serious breach of the rules, but a violation of the spirit of the game and the code of honor among hockey players.
Thus, the Committee believes Damir Ryspayev merits a three-game suspension for his actions. As the player has already been penalized more than once this season for being the instigator in a conflict, he also incurs an automatic two-game suspension for repeat offending, and as a result, Damir Ryspayev is banned for 5 games in total.
