The KHL Disciplinary Committee has investigated an episode from the 25th minute of Friday’s game in Kazan between Ak Bars and CSKA Moscow, which resulted in visiting forward Igor Makarov being sent off for the remainder of the game for a foul on home defenseman Marek Daloga. After studying the incident, the Committee upheld the referee’s decision to impose a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for causing injury by kneeing, and has suspended Makarov for one game.

As this is already the player’s second major plus game misconduct penalty of the season, following a previous offense of kneeing, he incurs an automatic one-game suspension. Igor Makarov is therefore banned for two games.
