The KHL Disciplinary Committee has investigated an episode from Tuesday’s game in Novosibirsk between Sibir and Jokerit Helsinki. In the 5th minute, Sibir captain Alexei Kopeikin was sent off for the remainder of the game after the referee judged him guilty of checking from behind in a challenge on visiting forward Tomi Maki.
After reviewing the available evidence, the Committee upholds the referee’s decision to punish the foul with a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes), and has suspended Kopeikin for one game.
