Two more players have decided to exchange North America for Europe to pursue a career in the Kontinental Hockey League.
Jokerit of Helsinki has tempted 29-year-old Danish forward Peter Regin to return to Northern Europe and sign a two-year contract with the club. Regin boasts considerable experience in the NHL, racking up 243 appearances and 67 points (23+44) since 2008 in spells with Ottawa, the New York Islanders and Chicago. Admittedly, the Dane spent much of last season in the AHL, playing for the Rockford Icehogs, but still posted a respectable 10 goals and 31 assists in 69 outings.
Meanwhile, Canadian defenseman Blake Parlett has fallen for the charms of Southern Europe and agreed a two-year deal with Medvescak of Zagreb. The 26-year-old, who has dual Canadian and Croatian citizenship, spent the previous campaign with AHL club San Antonio Rampage, finishing the season with 26 points (9+17) from 67 games.
