Sergei Kostitsyn got the overtime winner to hand Avangard Omsk victory at Atlant, after the Moscow Region team forced overtime with less than a minute to play. Igor Ignatushkin tied the game at 3-3 on 59:03, finding his team’s third equalizer. Earlier Alexander Perezhogin grabbed his 101st goal for Avangard midway through the second period, in a hard-fought encounter in Mytishchi. Kostitsyn’s winner came 39 seconds into overtime.
Yugra shocks Lokomotiv
Struggling Yugra Khanty Mansiysk picked up a surprise win at Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, thanks to Stanislav Bocharov’s 52nd minute winner. The visitors opened up a 2-0 lead with early goals in the first two periods, and withstood a home fightback led by Alexei Kalyuzhny and Viktor Kozlov.
Revenge win for Ak Bars
Ak Bars Kazan gained revenge for last week’s shoot-out defeat at home to Salavat Yulaev, winning a shoot-out after a 2-2 tie in Ufa. Evgeny Medvedev got the decisive goal, after Niko Kapanen tied the game on 56:03. Salavat Yulaev had led twice in regulation time thanks to Antti Pihlstrom and Igor Musatov.
Vityaz battles back
Vityaz Chekhov recovered a 0-2 deficit to force overtime at Spartak Moscow. Andrei Shefer continued his scoring form to put Spartak in front with his third in three games, but two goals from Vladimir Malevich tied the game in the third period. And the fightback paid off, with Artemy Panarin getting the winner in the shoot-out for Vityaz.
Ruslan Zainullin settled a nine-goal thriller in Torpedo’s favor, earning a 5-4 win over Barys Astana. In a topsy-turvy game, Vadim Krasnoslobodtsev scored twice for Barys but still ended on the losing side.
