To mark the end of the sixth week’s play of the tenth season of the Championship, The Kontinental Hockey League has named the best players of the week in four categories.
– Best goaltender was Igor Shestyorkin (SKA), The 21-year-old netminder appeared in two road games and helped the Petersburg Army Men win both, keeping one opposing team off the scoreboard and limiting the other to just a solitary goal. Shestyorkin thus achieved the best save percentage (98.18) and goals against average (0.50) of any goalie in the League;
– Best defenseman was Sami Lepisto (Jokerit), The experienced Finnish international helped the Helsinki Men celebrate 3 victories from 3 outings, recording 4 (1+3) points (the highest total of any of the League's defensemen). Lepisto did not receive a single negative rating, earning a +3 for the week;
– Best forward was Eeli Tolvanen (Jokerit), who, like Lepisto, featured in all 3 successful Jokerit matches during the week, scoring in every game, firing off 18 shots and amassing 7 (5+2) points – the best total of any player in the KHL. The 18-year-old's haul included a hat-trick (against Vityaz), two game-winners (against Vityaz and Severstal), and a positive rating from each match, giving him a +6 for the week. He was also named the Rookie of the Month for September;
Unsurprisingly, Eeli Tolvanen's exploits were enough to secure him the Rookie of the Week award for the third time this season.
