Canadians head for Ak Bars, Amur
Ak Bars has signed Canadian defenseman Ryan Wilson until the end of the season on a unilateral contract. The 28-year-old has 238 NHL games for the Colorado Avalanche under his belt, but was hampered by injury for most of the 2014-15 season and made only three appearances for the team.
Meanwhile, Canadian-Ukrainian forward Akim Aliu, once of the Calgary Flames, has swapped the Atlantic for the Pacific to join Amur Khabarovsk on a deal which runs to the end of the current campaign. Last season the 26-year-old plied his trade in the AHL and ECHL with Rochester, Bakersfield and Oklahoma.
