Finnish defenseman Tuukka Mantyla (pictured) has signed up for a year at Medvescak - his fourth KHL club. The 34-year-old had previously donned the jerseys of Neftekhimik, Metallurg Novokuznetsk and Amur.
Joining him in Zagreb is Czech Republic international Radek Smolenak. The 28-year-old forward has enjoyed a varied career, which includes spells at Ugra and Torpedo in 2012-14 plus a handful of NHL appearances at Tampa and Chicago. He began last season in Finland, with the Lahti Pelicans (31 games, 13 goals, 10 assists) and finished the campaign with MODO in Sweden (23 games, 4 goals, 5 assists). Smolenak has signed a two-year contract with the Croatians.
Meanwhile, Medvescak’s Canadian attacker, Pascal Pelletier, has chosen to swap southern Europe for the Pacific Ocean, and has joined Admiral Vladivostok on a one-year deal.
