Salavat Yulaev shrugged off its recent indifferent form to beat Metallurg Magnitogorsk after a dramatic finish in Ufa. The home team looked to be home and dry when Kirill Koltsov added to Denis Tolpeko’s second-period marker to give a two-goal cushion with 12 minutes to play. But Jan Kovar made it 2-1 in the 57th minute, prompting a flurry of late scoring. Denis Bodrov scored an empty-netter as Magnitka went for broke, but even then Oskar Osala had time to reduce the deficit once again with a power play goal.
