Four-time Gagarin Cup winner and three-time World Championship gold medalist Danis Zaripov has decided to leave Metallurg Magnitogorsk and return to his former club, Ak Bars. The 36-year-old forward has signed a two-year deal with the Kazan club.

Kunlun Red Star has strengthened its offense with the signing of ex-Nashville Predators forward Andreas Thuresson. It marks a return to the KHL for the 29-year-old Swedish international, who played for Sibir and Severstal in the 2014-15 season.

Sibir has agreed a one-year deal with 30-year-old forward Alexei Sopin, formerly of Dynamo Moscow, Torpedo and Avangard.

Forward Vladislav Yefremov, one of the Dynamo Moscow players who became unlimited free agents during the week, has re-signed with the club. The 21-year-old agreed a new, two-year deal with the Blue-and-Whites.

He has been joined at Dynamo by another forward, 33-year-old Igor Ignatushkin, formerly of Amur, Atlant, Sibir, HC Sochi and a veteran of every KHL season. 

20-year-old forward Pavel Karnaukhov, who returned to CSKA for the 2016-17 season after two years in the WHL with the Calgary Hitmen, has signed a new, three-year contract with the Army Men.

Avangard has recruited Belarusian international defenseman Andrei Stas on a one-year deal. The 28-year-old has played in all nine seasons of the KHL, seven of them for Dinamo Minsk.
