Throughout the 2016-17 season, away from the frantic action on the ice, an elite team of specialists at the ADAMAS jewelry company have been meticulously crafting an exclusive series of medals, each one destined to take pride of place in the trophy cabinets as a testament to sporting success and as a pleasant memento of a great season. The medals will stand out in any collection, thanks to a unique design based on the concept of sporting victory achieved by struggle and breakthrough. In every game in the Kontinental Hockey League Championship, each team comes out onto the ice to do battle, and each player is determined to weave his magic, give his all and conquer seemingly impossible odds in the quest to be the champion. Hence the striking image on the medal – a puck smashing through the ice.
The background on the face of the medal is tinted in the black of a hockey puck, and is adorned with the new emblem of the KHL. The image of the shattered ice is in gold, silver or bronze, to correspond with the team’s final placing, while the reverse sides are engraved with the name, year, and logo of the Championship.
The new medal has impressive dimensions: weighing around 450 grams (or one pound) and with a diameter of 80mm (3.15 inches), which is marginally larger than a standard KHL puck. Production of each medal involves 25 stages of varying complexity, taking 28 hours in total. ADAMAS has produced 220 of such medals in all.
Sergei Dobrokhvalov, KHL Vice-President:
“With the playoffs all set to begin next week, we got our first glimpse today of what the strongest teams in our League will be fighting for. The ADAMAS company has been our constant and valued partner for several years, producing medals adorned by designs that match the corporate image of the KHL and the competitive spirit of the game of hockey. I am sure that these stylish medals will be appreciated and cherished by those who are crowned the champions of this exciting season.”
Alexei Alexandrov, Director of Corporate Sales at ADAMAS:
“We at ADAMAS use the most innovative high-precision equipment, which enables us to produce world class medals, such as those we created for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. We are honored that the KHL has entrusted us with making the medals that will reward the winners of the season 2016-17 of the Championship. One special feature in this design is a 3D image – the puck to be embedded in the center of the medal. I am sure this latest ADAMAS creation will be seen as a shining example of original design and innovative technology, and one which will be treasured by the victorious hockey players.”
