The KHL Disciplinary Committee has investigated four episodes from the weekend’s matches in the Championship, and as a result, four players have been suspended for a combined total of ten games.

Three of the incidents under scrutiny took place on Saturday, the 10th of December.

1. In the 58th minute of the match in Moscow between Spartak and Lada Togliatti, home forward Artyom Voronin was given a minor penalty (2 minutes) for boarding. After reviewing the collision, the Committee found Voronin guilty of the more serious offense of injuring an opponent by checking from behind, for which he receives a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes), a fine, and a one-game suspension.

2. In the 14th minute of the match in Magnitogorsk between Metallurg and Kunlun Red Star, home forward Denis Kazionov was handed a major plus game misconduct penalty for kneeing and injuring Kunlun forward Yaroslav Alshevsky. The Committee supported the referee’s decision, and consequently, Kazionov has been fined and suspended for one game.

3. The Committee also upheld the decision to punish Admiral forward Viktor Alexandrov with a game misconduct penalty (20 minutes) for abusive and unsporting behavior toward a match official in the 5th minute of the Vladivostok team’s match against Traktor in Chelyabinsk. For this offense, the Committee decided to impose the maximum five-game suspension in addition to a fine.

4. The final incident under review occurred in the 50th minute of Sunday’s match in Minsk between Dinamo and Medvescak Zagreb, when visiting defenseman Shaone Morrisonn picked up a major plus game misconduct penalty for injuring an opponent by checking to the head and neck area. The Committee ruled that the decision was correct and that the foul merited a fine and a two-game suspension. As this was the Canadian’s third 20-minute penalty of the current season, he also incurs an automatic one-game ban for repeat offending. Shaone Morrisonn is therefore suspended for three games in total.
