In the 23rd minute of Tuesday’s match in Cherepovets between Severstal and Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk, home defenseman Anton Sizov was sent back to the locker room for injuring an opponent by kneeing.
After reviewing the episode, the KHL Disciplinary Committee supported the referee’s decision to punish the foul with a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes). As a result, Sizov receives a fine and a one-game suspension.
The Disciplinary Committee also studied the incident in the 6th minute of the Medvescak versus Dinamo Minsk match in Zagreb, which led to Dinamo forward Andrei Stas being handed a minor penalty (2 minutes) for tripping.
Having studied the evidence, the Committee found Stas guilty of a more serious offense, that of injuring an opponent by tripping, for which he receives a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes), a fine, and a one-game suspension.
